Ichihara Hiroko has been producing her own “Kotoba (phrase)-art” by employing a simple Gothic font to express such emotions as delight, anger, sorrow and pleasure that spring from daily relationships among families, friends, co-workers and couples. Her works are based on a theme of “love and laughter,” and are always filled with humor that brings forth laughter. This year marks the 30th anniversary of her activities as an artist and coincides with the release of her latest book. In recognition of those achievements, Kamakura Gallery will hold her 30th Anniversary Solo Exhibition.
Never without a sketch book for all of those years, Ichihara has been recording her ideas as they come to her, then polishing the phrases into works of art, bringing a merry mood, a touch of loneliness, a sense of pathos - or a big laugh - to all of us for 30 years. Today, her sketch books number more than 160 volumes.
For this exhibition, Ichihara has selected more than 50 silkscreen works (small and large) from ones released in the past. Visitors to the Kamakura Gallery can also enjoy browsing among and shopping for humorous goods, books and paper fortunes (as seen on Google TV commercials).

「愛と笑い」をテーマに、恋愛や結婚、仕事や家族に関する微妙な人間模様、そして喜怒哀楽にあふれた誰にでもある日常の心模様を、ユーモアをちりばめた簡潔なことばでアートに仕上げるイチハラヒロコ。シンプルなゴシック体の文字を用い、美術館の壁面や床をはじめ、工事現場の仮囲い、買い物用紙袋や銀行ATMの封筒、公共通路の看板、スケートリンク、さらには芝生の刈り込みにまで、さまざまな形体・場所で発表してきました。活動30周年を迎える今年、刊行される三冊目の作品集「王子さまが来てくれたのに、留守にしていてすみません。」（三修社刊）と同タイトルの30周年記念個展を鎌倉画廊にて開催致します。
色気も毒気も大胆にからめとり、喜びも悲しみもイチハラ独特の「愛」で包み「笑いとばす」ようなことばの数々。1988年の初作品「LOVE おまえのせいだ。」を出発点に30年、感じたことを書き留め、推敲するため常に持ち歩くクロッキー帳は160冊を超え、今日まで途切れることなく作品を生み出してきました。思わず笑ってしまう「あるある?」という共感と「よくぞ言ってくれた」という痛快さに胸がすく思いがしたり、キュンとする気持ちを思い出したり、図星を指されてドキリとしたり、、、。じわじわと鑑賞者の心を巻き込んでいくそのことばたちは、潔い文字で整然と佇むがゆえに余計に可笑しさを感じさせます。今展では、2006年より継続的に鎌倉画廊で発表してきたキャンバスにシルクスクリーンの作品群の中から作家がセレクトした大小合わせて約50点（予定）の作品を一堂に展示致します。また、GoogleのCMで話題の「恋みくじ」や限定品も含めた各種グッズ、書籍等の販売などもお楽しみ頂けます。ひとつひとつのことばに笑ったり頷いたり、イチハラヒロコが繰り広げることばの世界とその軌跡を感じながらご高覧ください。
