Kamakura Gallery holded the group exhibition of two emerging oil painters. Sakaizawa Kuniyasu had held the solo exhibition at Kamakura Gallery twice, and Hori Yukiko has exhibited her works in many shows. Sakaizawa’s paintings are filled with tranquility where as the paintings of Hori reflect her daily life. Hori Yukiko was impressed by Sakaizawa Kuniyasu’s saying, that stated “We have to mount more paints on the canvas to be able to see beyond the canvas”. Then, Hori realized again that the surface of the canvas is the “boundary of the material world and the illusion.” That’s why we decided the title of this exhibition as “Edges” It is a challenge to see the edges of the world by two young Japanese artists.

展覧会概要
5月22日から若い平面作家の二人展を開催いたします。境澤邦泰と堀 由樹子は、どちらも同じ油彩を表現の媒体に選びながらもそこには異なった世界観の絵画空間が広がっています。
境澤邦泰は1998年、2001年に鎌倉画廊で個展を開催、2001年に堀 由樹子は佐倉市立美術館でのグループ展参加、他にも多数のグループ展や個展など精力的に活動を重ねています。
布をモチーフに、絵具を重ねて静謐な絵画を作り上げる境澤邦泰。
ふと目にした心を奪われる日常の風景を絵画のイリュージョンによって特別な空間に変化させる堀由樹子。
今回は「画面の向こう側を見るために、画面のこちら側に絵具をのせてゆく」という境澤さんの言葉が印象的だったという堀さんが、「絵画の表面は物質的なこちらの世界と、イリュージョンとしてのあちらの世界の境目」と意識したことから「世界のきわ」という意味をこめて「Edges」というタイトルに決まりました。また2人展ということもあり、両刃の意味もこめ、2人の絵画が世界に切りこんでいきます。
2人の異なる世界観が、どのようなせめぎあいと新しいハーモニーを作り出すのか...どうかご期待ください。
