Statement
A “landscape” is more than mere scenery or view; it encompasses a multiplicity of perspectives, including the conditions, atmosphere, and narratives embedded within a space. Rather than portraying a specific locale or tangible scene, it is the very act of gathering fragments of the world to question how we interpret and design them. It is a subtle endeavor—much like tracing lines between stars scattered across the night sky, weaving them into new constellations.
On a bus bound for Kamakura, feeling the presence of the sea in the wind sweeping through the mountains, I caught a fleeting glimmer of light where the horizon blurred sky and ocean into one. Looking up and longing for the distant—these two gestures seem somehow aligned. Far across the open sea, stretching endlessly beyond, I recall days spent longing for home.
That which is uncertain and fragile, faint yet unmistakably present. That which is elusive, ungraspable, easily overlooked, and readily lost. I find myself deeply drawn to such things.
Moving between the realms of the visible and the invisible, each work maintains its autonomy while loosely connecting to one another, forging a renewed dialogue with the viewer. Perhaps it is a kind of gaze—one that seeks to decipher what lies beyond an unseen horizon.
Vision is inherently uncertain and ambiguous. Yet, I believe the very instability of “seeing” holds the true potential of expression.
For that singular, fleeting vision that can only emerge in that very place.
Kamakura Gallery is pleased to present Landscape, a solo exhibition by Yokomizo Miyuki, on view from Saturday, September 26 to Saturday, November 14, 2026.
Having majored in sculpture at Tama Art University and honed her practice as a grantee of the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Program of Overseas Study for Upcoming Artists, Yokomizo Miyuki has long explored themes of light and space through installation since the early stages of her career. In recent years, she has deepened her distinct inquiry into the boundaries between two- and three-dimensional space through her signature series line and angle, meticulously building tactile, layered surfaces by snapping paint-soaked threads against the canvas.
In this exhibition, Landscape, Yokomizo does not depict specific scenery. Instead, she presents a cognitive process that captures, reinterprets, and reconfigures fragments of the surrounding environment, atmosphere, and site-specific narratives. As the artist describes it as “an attempt to draw lines between stars in the night sky and weave them into new constellations,” her practice gives tangible form to invisible relations.
Intertwining the natural ethos of Kamakura—memories of winds moving through the mountains and light where the sea meets the sky—with the artist’s contemplation, this body of work materializes intangible presences while navigating the subtleties of perception. We invite you to experience the singular visual resonance emerging within the serene setting of Kamakurayama.

作家ステートメント
ランドスケープとは単なる景⾊や⾵景だけでなく、空間を構成する状況や環境、その場が持つ物語などを含んださまざまな視点のことです。具体的な⾵景や特定の場を描き出すのではなく、世界の断⽚を集めて、それらをどのように解釈し、どのように設計するかを問う思考そのものです。ちょうどそれは夜空に散らばる星々に線を繋ぎ、星座として編み直してみる、そんな細やかな試みでもあります。
鎌倉へ向かうバスの中、山々を抜ける風に海を感じ、空と海の境が溶け合う一瞬に微かな光を見た。見上げることと遠くを想うこと。この２つはどこか似ているように思う。
海のはるか遠く、どこまでも繋がるその先に、望郷の日々を思い出す。
不確かで壊れやすく、微かでありながら、確かに存在するもの。
捉えにくく、掴みきれない、気づきにくく、⾒失いやすいもの。
私は、そうしたものに強く惹きつけられる。
「⾒えるもの」と「⾒えないもの」その領域を⾏き来しながら、それぞれの作品は⾃律し、と同時に互いに緩やかに繋がり、観る⼈と新たな関係を築いていく。それは、まだ⾒ぬ地平のその先を読み解こうとする、⼀つの視線のようなものかもしれません。
視覚はとても不確かであいまいなものです。
しかし「視る」ことの不確実性こそが、表現の可能性そのものだと思うのです。
そこでしか立ち現れることのない、一瞬の光景のために。
展覧会概要
鎌倉画廊では、2026年9月26日（土）より11月14日（土）まで、横溝美由紀の個展「Landscape」を開催いたします。
多摩美術大学で彫刻を専攻し、文化庁派遣芸術家在外研修員としての研鑽を経た横溝美由紀は、初期より光や空間を主題にしたインスタレーションを発表してきました。近年は、絵具を付着させた糸を弾いて画面上に立体的な層を精緻に積み上げていく代表作「line」や「angle」シリーズを展開し、平面と空間の境界を問い直す独自の表現を深化させています。
本展タイトル「Landscape」において横溝が提示するのは、特定の風景の描写ではなく、空間を取り巻く環境や空気感、その場が持つ物語といった断片をすくい上げ、再解釈・再設計する思考そのものです。作家自身が「夜空の星々に線を繋ぎ、星座として編み直す試み」と語るように、不可視な関係性に形を与えていきます。
山々を抜ける風や海と空が溶け合う光の記憶など、鎌倉の風土と作家の思索が交錯する本作群。不確かな視覚の狭間を往還しながら、見えない気配を確かな表現へと結実させています。鎌倉山の静謐な空間において、個々の作品が響き合い立ち現れる一瞬の光景を、ぜひご高覧ください。
